It is with great saddness that I have to report that Baby Love passed from our arms into the waiting arms of Jesus in April 2010. She failed to thrive despite being hospitalized.

She was loved by many and will be remembered by many.

Jenny,
I always enjoy reading your blog, I often check my mail just to see if you have another funny story, uplifting message or pictures of your precious baby girl! I just want to thank you for sharing this website on your recent blog. I am a mother of a 14 month old little girl! It helps to know that other moms have the same questions and concerns. However, it is uplifting to be reminded that Jesus will show us how to raise our children and the best way is through love! So thank you!!

Comment on Communion Every Sunday? by MSH

I would be content with communion on whatever schedule was decided upon. However my personal preference would be to both keep the once-a-month schedule for communion and increase the time of response at the end of the service by, say, 5 minutes. As I also prefer that this increase of response time not be greatly taken away from by time for communion. Communion has its own focus separate and apart from response to the preaching of the Word and is therefore somewhat at odds with the time set aside for response. (Not saying that they are actually at odds, but that they seem incompatible as focus for a single period of time.)

In other words, there is no clear answer, except that I tend to desire a time for communion that is its own time with the focus on the saving sacrifice of Christ, and also a time for focus upon response to the Word, through prayer, singing of targeted songs, etc. The two times really are not the same. And unless we are prepared to alter the Sunday schedule to lengthen the main service by 5 to 15 minutes, always doing both will result in a decrease in time for something. And since communion takes the time that it does take, the cut is from the worship, the Word, or the response.

Wow, Jenny, every time I read stuff you write I feel like we are friends! :) I have read too many parenting books, felt like a failure by getting an epidural and having a c-section, and I fought with my husband over breastfeeding our babies... "because formula wasn't the best(!)"

I have bought into a lot of the myths with my 4 yr old son and now 5 month old baby girl. Thank you for reminding me of the same advice my Mom has given me--you can't go wrong with "prayer, Holy Spirit intuition, and love."

Thanks!

Reggie McNeal is right on. My pre-IBC chuch experience was that of Fort that protected it's members from intruders. It was like you had to clean yourself up before you could be considered worthy of membership plus you had to pledge to conform to our traditional ilk.
